Deutsch AFD Composite Coupling Ring, RFI Connector

SPECIFICATIONS\

The Deutsch 88083 Shielded Composite Coupling Ring Connector is an improved design over the MIL-C-26482 connector, with an RFI ring, that can reduce costs, expand it’s applications, and improve durability. This is accomplished in several ways.

The composite coupling ring causes less galling of the shell, which reduces failures due to corrosion. It is also resilient and impact resistant, protecting the connector from damage due to rough handling.

Along with lower life-cycle costs, the Deutsch Advanced Composite Coupling Ring enhances safety. In cold climates, the larger coupling ring provides a better grip when wearing gloves. In hot climates, where perspiration is present, better gripping is permitted with the enlarged knurls of the coupling ring.

A further advantage of the composite coupling ring is to encourage the elimination of unnecessary tools to mate/unmate the connector. This reduces unwanted damage to the connector. This connector is intermateable and interchangeable with connectors in the MIL-C-26482 specification.

The 88083 Composite Coupling Ring Connectors feature solderless, rear release, crimp-type contacts. These contacts are installed with standard military tools. There is no need for heat guns, wet processes, or other special tools. They make field repairs quick and simple.

The connector insert features cork-in-bottle interfacial sealing. Pin contacts are protected by conical-shaped risers that fit into the chamfered lead-ins of the socket insert. This cork-in-bottle sealing ensures individual contact sealing at the connector interface, further enhancing the connector’s corrosion resistance.

CORROSION- Unmated connectors will withstand 500 hours of salt spray, meeting or exceeding Method 1001 of Mil-Std-1344, paragraph 4.2.3

VIBRATION- Mated connectors shall not be damaged or have loosening of parts. The coupling ring shall not loosen and there shall be no interruption of electrical continuity longer than one microsecond, which meets or exceeds MIL-C-26482, paragraph 3.6.22

DURABILITY- Will withstand 500 cycles of mating and unmating, meeting or exceeding MIL-C-26482, paragraph 3.6.18

PHYSICAL SHOCK- Mated, wired connectors will withstand a shock in each direction of the three major axes, and discontinuity shall be no greater than one microsecond maximum. Meets or exceeds MIL-C-26482, paragraph 3.6.24

DIELECTRIC WITHSTANDING VOLTAGE-
At sea level, the maximum leakage current shall be two milliamperes. Meets or exceeds MIL-C-26482, paragraph 3.6.9.1
