Deutsch has designed low cost, high performance Composite Protective Covers for receptacles and plugs in the MIL-C-38999 series of connectors. ACT Composite Protective Covers are available in shell sizes 09 through 25. There are shielded and non-shielded environmental versions. Various mounting hardware and chain lengths can be specified.

These composite protective covers were designed for rugged applications where old-style metal covers fail to protect the receptacle and plug, or in many cases cause damage to the receptacle and plug during the connect and disconnect cycles.

The use of the composite protective cover will reduce or eliminate panel damage caused by metal covers striking unprotected panel faces. The ACT Composite Protective Cover exceeds all of the rigorous environmental requirements of MIL-C-38999. By using a Deutsch Composite Protective Cover, you can be certain your receptacles and plugs will remain moisture and dust free under the most severe conditions. Whether it is in the Arctic, the Tropics, or in desert sands, the Deutsch Composite Protective Cover will provide years of service.

ENVIRONMENT- When mated to receptacle, the protective cover will seal against moisture, prevent air leakage, and comply with the applicable requirements of MIL-C-38999 Series III.

DURABILITY- No electrical or mechanical defects after 1,500 cycles of mating per MIL-C-38999 Series III.

CORROSION
Exceeds 2,000 hours of exposure to salt spray.

PHYSICAL SHOCK- No unlocking, unmating or other unsatisfactory results after 100 g’s in each of the three mutually perpendicular planes.

TEMPERATURE
Operating temperature is
-55C to +200C
THERMAL SHOCK- No cracking, chipping or leaking after five cycles at
-55C to +200C (Class J +175C) per MIL-C-38999 Series III.

MATING & UNMATING FORCES
Meets or exceeds all requirements of MIL-C-38999 Series III.

SHIELDING
Meets or exceeds all requirements of MIL-C-38999 (for the shielded version).
